HELPING PEOPLE TO HELP THEMSELVES
Halima Birungi is physically disabled....yet, she operates a learning center
where she and former students teach disabled youth a skill that will help them to be self-supporting.
Halima also grows Sugar Cane. She is now selling the crops in order to build a Boarding School to house disabled students while they learn.
One of her teachers is a sightless man named Mandy, who owns and runs his own knitting machine.
He purchased with funds he earned after learning to knit from Halima. He is teaching for Halima because he wants to help other disabled people
to have the opportunities he has been given to be self-supporting. Mandy is now married and his wife just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
Halima teaches her student to produce high quality clothing including: school uniforms and sweaters. shoes and other apparel.
She and the students then sell the uniforms and sweaters to schools and the other items to the general public.
This income provides, food, bedding, necessities and a small stipend to the students.
In addition, it is used for purchasing new materials for knitting, clothes making and shoe making.
Reach the Children loves to support people who want to support themselves and to lift others in their path.
We want to support Halima in her efforts to help the disabled of Uganda. Without her and others like her, this group of valuable people would be left to fend for themselves on the streets and in the gutters. Please help us to help Halima.

Be part of WORLD WATER DAY! Be part of the SOLUTION!
It is a little-known fact that Africa has hundreds of dirty, disease ridden natural springs that all have running water most of the year.
The mud pools they create are all over the countries of Uganda and Kenya where we serve.
Thousands of families go daily to these springs to collect water in jerry-cans or plastic buckets. They use this filthy water for all of their needs.
For approximately $1,750 per spring, we can transform these cesspools into CLEAN, SAFE water outlets; for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene.
The water can also be used for farm animals, kitchen gardens, and small field irrigation so, a family can produce food to help sustain life.
Each spring can serve up to approximately 1000 individuals. That is a HUGE bang for the buck!11

ongoing ProjectS
EDUCATION
Almost 60 percent of children in sub-Saharan Africa between the ages of 15 and 17 are not in school. Most of them are girls. Teaching girls about menstruation, how to sew reusable pads, and providing teen sponsorship's, is reducing these numbers. |
WATER AND AGRICULTURE
This is a picture of Khufikoko Spring in Western Kenya before and after we provided a way to turn muddy, bacteria-infested ground water into clean, clear drinking water. Each spring we refurbish costs approx. $1750. Each spring provides clean water for 20 to 50 families. Each family can have 3 to 10 children. Each spring is a blessing in the lives of a lot of people. |
HEALTH
When a child is ill they cannot attend school, thus their chances of becoming self-reliant are slim. We focus on wellness by providing vaccines, medical supplies, and medical clinics where our doctors and nurses work with local medical people to administer medical help to individuals in the greatest need. |
